Tampa is known for its sunny days, fine sand, and beautiful beaches. Now, while that’s all well and good, this beautiful facade brings with it many driveway challenges we Tampans are familiar with. We experience 246 days of constant heat that beats down incessantly on our parkways. The summer, when the average temperature is around 90°F, not only brings blistering heat but also afternoon rain showers that lead to the expansion and contraction of concrete and other materials used for our flooring. The sand, while good for draining, is also prone to shifting, which could lead to structural damage. Meanwhile, the beach, with its salt spray, can cause efflorescence and spalling.
